When my friend Sarah told me about the mentorship programme, I thought I could probably try it out but I wasn’t sure that it would actually make a difference. I was one year into a new extremely stretching job juggling a number of roles that… involved a lot of travel. I think I exaggerated the ‘career woman’ thing, I had completely lost myself in my job, it’s all I did and everyone around me was complaining. I had joined a promising new industry but I was completely overwhelmed. The first thing that Rose told me when we met was what an opportunity I had! How lucky I was! And from then on, I started looking at the brighter side of it and started rectifying the things that pulled me back. Rose also delved into other areas of my life. I came looking for ‘career’ advice and just appreciating that it cannot work as a standalone was eye opening. That is what I loved about the programme. The holistic approach. Since I started the programme, a lot has changed. I now look more at life from outside my job. I’m milking the opportunity to set my future. I have accelerated some future plans and as a result, my dreams look so real! I’m more confident about what I’m capable of doing.
