Winning The Game Of Life

What you have achieved to-date pales against your real potential! What you have achieved is done and it has no bearing on your potential. Your real potential is hidden in what you are yet to achieve.  Your abilities are immeasurable/ unlimited. The only limit to what you are designed to achieve is in what you see with your mind (in how you think). Is it amazing that an idea comes into your mind but you dismiss it because you are unable to see beyond your limitation and yet somebody picks it up, acts on it ,it becomes that hottest thing in town  and you are left with just regrets. You may say something like…”you know I thought about that same idea last year”…sounds familiar?

I have paraphrased a quote I love by Dr Marshall Goldsmith … What brought you to your location will not take you to where you want to go. In life we grow /succeed in doing great things but there reaches a time when we plateau. We are comfortable and are reluctant to change things. You may be familiar with thoughts such as  “I have built a brand name for myself”, “ I have a reputation that I must keep”….. and we hold tight to what we have achieved. At that point we start focusing on what could go wrong if we attempted to do something different. What if the new thing does not succeed? What if something goes wrong? What will happen to my reputation? What will my friends think?  . At the back of your mind you know that life will be more exciting if you ventured into new horizons but the familiar ground provides you with the comfort that you require at the moment, so why rock the boat? You adopt an attitude of ‘…if it is not broken do not attempt to fix it’.

“Your past success is the greatest enemy of your future” What brought you here will keep you here.  What you know will limit you. Your growth is in what you do not know and areas you have not ventured into.  To continue experiencing extraordinary life (success) you must hold your past success with your smallest finger. You must be prepared to LET GO.

When you let go of your past (both good and bad experiences) you start to win in the game of life. When you find yourself stuck at any point in your life, these three questions will unlock you if you answer them sincerely. Look deeply into the point where you are stuck and ask,

  • What am I holding onto that is keeping me in this position?
  • What do I need to let go in order to move from this point?
  • What action do I need to take to move forward

It could be an attitude, a belief, a habit, fear, success, failure, un-forgiveness, envy the list is long but once you find it you must let it go….when you let go, you will not lose: When you let go, you win.

LETTING GO is the pathway to a life well lived.
